Selecting Fireplace Locations This fireplace may be used as a room divider, installed along a wall, across a corner or used in an exterior chase. Locating the fireplace in a basement, near frequently opened doors, central heat outlets or returns, or other locations of considerable air movement can affect the performance. The FP comes equipped with an outside air inlet to feed combustion air from outside the home, along with an outside air termination cap; the rigid metal duct is required but not supplied. Consideration should be given to these factors before deciding on a location. Chimney sections at any level require a 2 in. This helps to produce more draft, especially during lighting and die-down of the fire. This minimizes the effects of wind loading. Tools and Supplies Needed E. Fireplace System Requirements Before beginning the installation be sure the following tools and building supplies are available: The Quadra-Fire fireplace system requirements consist of the following: Inspect Fireplace and Components Warning!
